As the name suggests, large format refers to printing graphics or designs onto large rolls of paper and other materials (such as fabric, vinyl and even metal and wood). In order to perform this type of service, the print-shop needs to be equipped with special “wide-format printers”, with a max width of 18-100 inches.
Usually, when we think of large format prints, we tend to imagine film posters, billboards that stand amidst pedestrian and vehicle traffic and eye-catching banners. This is one type of products that large format printing provides and they are usually defined as tools for implementing “Out Of Home” (OOH) marketing. In terms of ROI (return of investment), this is the most successful and beneficial form of advertising. According to recent studies, customers state that the outdoor ads stand out more than ads in other media (except for the television).
Aside from promotional material, there is yet another type of large format prints. This category usually refers to informational and educational printed material and includes products such as maps, diagrams, charts, important notices, etc. Therefore, while the wide format prints are great way to attract a customer, they also make effective teaching tools when placed in a classroom and used in an instructional setting.
